Planning...
So this year we decided to grow something and built a couple of planters. In this one we planted 12 stawberry plant starters. Only 12.
The planter is 4 feet wide and 8 feet long, 16 inches deep. Hmmm...can you say we had some good soil?
Patience...
Unfortunately, the plants we got were June Bearing. Which means they only produce fruit once a year. Hmmmm....since you don't get fruit the first year you plant them, that means you don't get fruit the first year. Hmmm...gotta wait another year for those delicious strawberrys. Dang.
Performance....
Plants...obviously doing VERY well. At least the strawberrys did. We did get some potato plants to grow and ended up with some potatos about the size of baseballs. Our cantalope plants produced a few melons. My blackberry plants....well...I got about 3 berries. Better luck next year! As for my tomato plants...they all died. We tried starting....they all died. We bought plants...they got stepped on by kids. Definately going to have to do something different for next year. Don't know what yet, but I will figure something out.
What I learned from this...preparation makes for great performance, and continued care makes for great opportunities for growth. Wow...how's that for a deep meaning!

Just a thought: An electric fence is great for keeping the kids out. They only touch it once. The bad part is when someone tells you its off when it really isn't.
