Flew the Coop

We have had some fairly determined birds at our house this year who decided to build a nest on top of the light right outside our front door. We took the beginnings of a nest down about three times before giving in and letting the robin keep the nest. This is the results of the robin's determination. These little guys left the nest a couple days after we took the pictures so I was glad I caught them when I did. The girls have LOVED watching the bird feed the babies and checked on them regularly as they were growing. They have gone to several bird fairs with Grandmommy this year so it was fun for them to get to see an actual nest and baby birds as they grew. Kaitlyn has even tried to catch the wild birds on several occasions. You can imagine how successful that has been. But she still tries and who knows, maybe someday she will tame a robin.

seriously, birds are SO FUN! my sister blogged her robin nest in a shrubbery in her back yard on a nearly daily basis, so it was fun to see them go from eggs to nearly grown-ups. we've got pigeons that won't leave our carport, and so john's working on building a proper coop for them. cheap dog-training birds is how he's looking at it.
